Our Team

We are a young, driven, highly successful startup based in Cape Town, South Africa. Our team is fully remote, yet we take great pride in creating a happy and energising work environment. Our online program, RocketHour, currently teaches code to over 300 kids in 8 different countries and we are growing faster than ever. 

RocketHour classes are run as weekly, online, extra-murals. Each class contains between 5 and 8 students that are guided through a highly-structured programme by our exceptional teachers.

Upcoming Opportunities

Code Teacher & Lesson Architect

In this full-time role, you will teach between 15 and 18 RocketHour classes per week. Lessons are exactly 1-hour in duration and run on weekdays from 15:00-18:30 and on Saturday mornings from 09:00-12:30 (All SAST). You will learn the most effective and engaging methods for teaching online and will become familiar with the RocketHour programme.

During weekday mornings, you will work flexi-time with our Lesson Development team, contributing to the ongoing creation and refinement of the RocketHour programme. You will learn and apply the most successful pedagogical design principles in a systematic process that produces A-Grade lessons.

Requirements

1+ years experience teaching children (preferably in an Intermediate phase context
Experience in leading or teaching children
Mathematics for Matric
Completed Matric in 2019 or earlier
A highly reliable fibre internet connection
An openness to taking constructive feedback

Head of Learning & Curriculum

In this full-time role, you will oversee the development and implementation of the RocketHour curriculum. You will direct the work of our Lesson Architects by sketching out lesson briefs and monitor the process as these briefs are turned into fully fledged lessons. You will review lesson feedback from both students and teachers and implement required updates to the entire RocketHour programme. You will work closely with our CEO and will be involved in the training of RocketHour Teachers. As part of your role, you will also teach a number of classes to get a feel for the lessons you create.

Requirements

3+ years experience teaching Mathematics or Code (preferably at an Intermediate Phase level)
A highly reliable fibre internet connection
A grounded and well reasoned approach to curriculum development
An openness to taking constructive feedback

Freelance Code Teacher

In this part-time role, you will teach between 6 and 12 RocketHour classes per week. Lessons are exactly 1-hour in duration and run on weekdays from 15:00-16:00, 16:15-17:15 and 17:30-18:30 and on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:00, 10:15-11:15 and 11:30-12:45 (All SAST). You will learn the most effective and engaging methods for teaching online and will become familiar with the RocketHour programme. You will make your way through a comprehensive 6-week training programme that will prepare you to conduct lessons with confidence.

Student Support Manager

In this full-time role, you will take on responsibility for a cohort of clients. For this cohort, you will be the main line of communication between RocketHour and the parents whose children are enrolled in our programme. You will monitor lesson feedback, given daily by both students and teachers, and deftly resolve any issues that may arise. You will need to develop an intimate familiarity with the RocketHour programme and will be required to take a proactive approach to problems and customer difficulties.
