RocketHour Terms of Service

1. Program Eligibility

1.1. RocketHour's services are available to students aged eight to fifteen years old. Students must be turning eight in the year they enroll.

1.2. No prior coding or technical experience is required for enrollment.

2. Technical Requirements

2.1. Students must have access to:

  • A PC or Mac with minimum 8GB RAM and four-core CPU
  • Functioning webcam and microphone
  • External mouse
  • Internet connection with minimum 20 Mbps download and upload speeds

2.2. Required software installation:

  • Students/parents agree to install necessary communication platforms and screen control technology as specified by RocketHour
  • Screen control connections can only be established with explicit user acceptance during lessons

3. Class Structure and Attendance

3.1. Classes are conducted in groups of three to seven students.

3.2. RocketHour does not offer one-on-one instruction as part of its regular program.

3.3. Classes run for 60 minutes at scheduled times (15:30, 16:30, and 17:30, Monday to Thursday).

3.4. Missed lessons:

  • Will be rescheduled when possible, subject to availability
  • If rescheduling is not possible, students retain access to lesson materials for self-paced completion

4. Payment Terms

4.1. Payment options:

  • Annual payment in full, or
  • Monthly subscription processed on the 28th of each month
  • Eleven payments are made annually for forty lessons total
  • No payment is collected in December

4.2. Payments are processed through Payfast payment gateway.

5. Cancellation Policy

5.1. Subscribers may cancel at any time by notifying RocketHour.

5.2. To avoid the next monthly charge, cancellation notice must be received before the 28th of the current month.

6. Program Schedule

6.1. RocketHour operates on a fixed academic calendar with designated break periods:

  • March 31 - April 6 (one week)
  • April 28 - May 4 (one week)
  • June 30 - July 20 (three weeks)
  • September 29 - October 12 (two weeks)
  • December 8 - January 11 (five weeks)

6.2. New enrollments are only accepted during four annual intake dates.

7. Track Placement and Changes

7.1. RocketHour reserves the right to recommend track changes based on student performance and development.

7.2. Track changes will be implemented only after consultation with parents.

8. Communication and Progress Reporting

8.1. Parents will receive weekly updates from tutors regarding their child's progress.

8.2. Certificates and progress reports will be issued after completion of Checkpoint Projects.

9. Software and Content Usage

9.1. All learning materials, projects, and content provided by RocketHour are for enrolled students' use only.

9.2. Screen sharing and recording of lessons is not permitted without explicit authorization from RocketHour.

10. Student Code of Conduct

10.1. Students are expected to:

  • Participate actively and respectfully in the Community of Learning
  • Treat tutors and fellow students with respect
  • Complete assigned work to the best of their ability
  • Maintain appropriate behavior during online sessions
  • Not share access credentials or class materials with others
  • Not engage in any form of academic dishonesty or plagiarism

10.2. RocketHour reserves the right to:

  • Issue warnings for inappropriate behavior
  • Temporarily suspend students for repeated behavioral issues
  • Terminate enrollment in cases of serious misconduct
  • Remove students from sessions if their behavior disrupts the learning environment

11. Limitation of Liability

10.1. RocketHour implements appropriate security measures for all technology used in the delivery of its services. Parents acknowledge that use of online learning platforms and associated technologies carries inherent risks.

10.2. RocketHour is not responsible for technical issues arising from inadequate home setup or internet connectivity problems.
